Nigeria, how far are we?

Just in my thinking, I have been wondering why! why!! why!!!! We as a country have decided not to grow!

Imagine the country with the largest population in Africa, with over 200 million people, has chosen a path that is on the contrary. How? It is no longer a news that our darling country remains at same spot since we embraced democracy. This is sad.

My country, our country, has been ruled over the years by deceivers. Those in the driver’s seat have nothing to offer us. For instance, do we have good roads? No. Power generation is a total failure. What do civil servants get monthly? Peanuts! Imagine a government worker with a monthly wages below $300 as a senior civil servant! In the area of technology we are nowhere talk less of being ranked globally. Most of our prominent investors have left this country just because things are not right. For example where is Dunlop, Michelin?

Nigeria used to be the giant of Africa. Now, we are chasing shadows. We used to bear such name, but now are we still giants?

The economy is on the dwindling side, insecurity is everywhere. All over the place are ritualists, bandits and terrorists. We can not sleep closing our eyes any more.

Above all, people are suffering. Young and old people are dying as a result of hunger. Yet our so called leaders are busy siphoning our money and keeping them in foreign banks. This is shameful.

Our lawmakers are supposed to put the country on the right track but theirs is even worse. I’m not too surprised since we have allowed touts to take over our upper and lower houses, state assembly as well. What do we expect? They will toy with our constitution and adjust it to suit themselves.

Nigeria, our darling country, where people in the high places are above the law and men of the lower  class are behind the bard for crimes not committed.

Our people deserve to live a better life. We should be ranked amongst the best in the world. It is high time the international community stopped laughing at us.
