The Niger State Police Command bid farewell to AIG Shawulu Ebenezer Danmamman during a send-off occasion organised by the Command in honour of the senior police officer, who was recently promoted to the enviable rank of Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG).
The occasion took place at the Police Officers’ Mess last Saturday in Minna. In his remarks at the valedictory session, the AIG expressed gratitude to God for His grace and mercy, giving him a second chance to serve in Niger State.
He noted that he had served as Deputy Commissioner of Police, Administration, for almost three years, was promoted to the rank of Commissioner of Police, and was posted out of the state for about seven months. His second tenure as the 37th Commissioner of Police in the state was marked by notable successes in crime prevention, detection, arrests, and the prosecution of numerous crime suspects.
He also thanked officers for following directives and instructions, and for all their efforts to ensure and sustain a peaceful environment for the people of the state.
He acknowledged that the peace and success of the Command were due to the commitment and sacrifices made by officers in their various roles, expressing appreciation to all for their commendable work.
AIG Shawulu emphasised that his promotion was a result of the officers’ dedication and sacrifice, and he therefore dedicated the rank to them.
Shawulu Danmamman noted that as he looked forward to exiting the service, having served meritoriously for 33 years and approaching the retirement age by the end of this month, the promotion came as a pleasant surprise.
He mentioned that this had brought numerous congratulatory messages to him, for which he was deeply grateful.
He inspired officers by sharing his experiences and career journey, recounting how his interest in joining the Police Force as a young lawyer in 1992 stemmed from his desire to contribute to the diligent prosecution of crimes, particularly crimes of indecent assault and rape—an area in which he had given his best in various capacities within the Police service.
In their separate goodwill messages, senior officers of the Command, such as DCP Falade Michael, DCP Ibrahim Adamu, DCP Aminu Garba, and others, commended and appreciated the AIG. During the event, he presented commendation certificates to some officers in recognition of their performances.
The AIG also celebrated other retiring officers, including Area Commander Shiroro, ACP Bokah Audu, Intelligence Unit Officer ACP Joseph Mamman, and AC Administration ACP Ilya Doma.
