Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Niger chapter has explained that there is no going back on the planned nationwide protest against the recent increase in the pump price of the Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) by Federal government.
The State Chairman of NLC, Comrade Edress Abdulkareem stated this in an interview with the newsmen in his Office on Tuesday in Minna adding that NEC in session has reaffirmed the decisions of Central Working Committee of July 25th, 2023.
He stated further that the Niger Council of NLC has no option than to adhere strictly to the directives of the National body that all affiliates and state councils including the Civil Society Organizations(CSOs) to come out on Wednesday across the country voluntarily to ventilate their anger over perceived government’s insensitivity to the plights of the Nigerian workers.
Comrade Edress insisted that the seemingly unseriousness of the Federal Government towards the creation of frameworks to cushion the impact of its hike in the price of premium motor Spirit [PMS] was demonstrated not only the quality of its representation at Tuesday’s (yesterday)meeting showed that they were not willing to deal with the issues on ground as canvassed.
He stated further that all affiliate unions and the entire workers were expected to converge at NLC State secretariat at 7:30 am when they will now move to the State House of Assembly and subsequently to Government House, Minna in protest.
