THE newly upgraded Air Traffic Control facilities at the control tower of the 401 Flying Training School (FTS) Kaduna, Kaduna State will help to enhance quality training, which is the starting point of flying training in the Nigerian Air Force (NAF), Air Marshal Abubakar has disclosed.
Air Marshal Abubakar, who further said that the NAF placed so much emphasis on primary flying training, then reaffirmed the commitment of the current NAF leadership to adding value to the equipment, infrastructure as well as the human being towards building the NAF capacity.
The newly provided facilities include a modern communication console with advanced meteorological equipment, all of which were aimed at enhancing primary flying activities and other air operations.
This was made known in a statement by the Director of Public Relations and Information of NAF, Air Commodore Olatokunbo Adesanya, a copy of which was made available to Tribune Online in Abuja, on Saturday.
According to the statement, the building of the control tower was also remodelled for effective and efficient air traffic services. Before the upgrade, the control tower relied on the Kaduna Civil Airport for the supply of daily metrological information and the training of Air Traffic Controllers.
“However, the newly upgraded control tower will be able to generate weather information and other airfield parameters for NAF flying activities and will equally serve as a training facility for air traffic controllers.”
“We believe that what we have here is going to add value to what we are doing in terms of training and air traffic control,” the statement added.
