The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) chairman in Zamfara State, Alhaji Surajo Garba Maikatako, has urged supporters to remain committed to the principles of democracy, describing the party’s deregistration as a temporary legal hurdle.
In a statement issued on Sunday in Gusau, the Zamfara State NDC chairman said supporters were guided by the visionary wisdom of National Leader, Senator Henry Seriake Dickson, CON, and the firm leadership of National Chairman, Senator Cleopas Moses Zuwoghe.
The statement reads in part: “I wish to categorically and unequivocally state that the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) remains a legally recognised, fully operational, and vibrant political party.
“Our National Leader and National Chairman have provided the necessary clarity — the NDC has not been deregistered. We stand firm as a legitimate entity, committed to the principles of democracy and the service of the Nigerian people.
“The recent ruling by the Federal High Court is a decision we view as a temporary legal hurdle, not a death knell.

“It is important to reassure our teeming supporters that the NDC has meticulously complied with every constitutional and legal requirement. Our structures are solid, from the polling units to the national level.
“Our candidates for all positions remain valid, and our preparations for the 2027 general elections are in full swing.
“To the good people of Zamfara State, this is a time for courage, not despair. This is a moment to hold fast to the hope we have found in the NDC. I urge you to remain calm, united, and resolute.”
He concluded that the governorship candidate for Zamfara State, Senator Kabiru Marafa, is a pillar of strength and a symbol of the new Zamfara.
