An Islamic organization, Nasrullah Fathi Society (NASFAT), has congratulated President-elect, Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu, on his victory at the Presidential Election held on February 25, 2023, expressing the hope that it won’t be business as usual as his administration would bring about a “prosperous country we all have been dreaming of.”
President of NASFAT, Alhaji Abdul Mumin Niyi Yusuf, said this during his opening remarks at this year’s Iftar with media outfits, which took place at Radio Lagos, Agidingbi, Ikeja.
Yusuf expressed appreciation to Almighty Allah and the people for the emergence of Asiwaju Tinubu as the President-elect, wishing his administration success in directing the affairs of the country as from May 29, 2023.
The NASFAT president, in particular, charged the president- elect, Tinubu, to ensure that his in- coming administration charts a new direction, initiative as well as a new leadership that would give Nigeria a new lease of life.
“My advice is that Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu should chart a new direction, a new initiative, a new leadership that will give the country a new lease of life,” he said.
He, therefore, prayed for the success of Asiwaju Tinubu’s administration, urging for Nigerians’ support to enable it to lead the country to the promised land.
On the organization’s activities, Alhaji Yusuf disclosed that half a billion naira had been disbursed as Zakat and Sadaqah in the last five years, saying that same amount of money was spent on the NASFAT mosque in Aseese in Ogun State which hosted the first Jjumaat on April 14, 2023. Â
He recalled that NASFAT was formed in 1995 as a prayer group to interact with missioners, saying that the focus had been on enlightening Muslim faithful, adding: “We attend to the body and soul.”
The Guest Speaker, Dr. Mustapha Ibrahim, who is also the Resident Imam, University of Lagos (UNILAG) Mosque, in his lecture titled: “Search for religious harmony, peace and development: The role of Islam societies,” highlighted the need for peace and harmony, pointing out that no development could take place in chaotic environments.
The cleric urged the Islam societies to synergize to attain peace and developments, saying that they should engage in methodical teachings and preaching to ensure religious harmony.
Dr. Ibrahim quoted some Quranic injunctions to buttress his stand, urging that people should learn not to spoil good things on earth but improve on them.
“You must learn how not to spoil good things you have on earth; that is, improve upon the good things you met on earth.
“After religious harmony in the land, you need knowledge and if Islamic societies come together, they will achieve more in the society,” he said.
Vice- Chancellor of the Fountain University, Osogbo, Osun State, Prof. Olayinka Ramota Karim, in her goodwill message, said she was focused on ensuring that the institution become a centre of excellence; develop it to meet both national and international standards; and improve the students’ enrolment.
Prof. Karim, who is the first Muslim female vice- chancellor in the country, also promised to let the institution be self-sustained and have a global presence and excellent curriculum for all its 19Â programmes.
She disclosed that the university currently had four colleges, but said more were being planned to be added to improve its visibility nationally and internationally by improving on academic contents through student’s enrolment.
“Two colleges to be added to the existing four are: Arts and Education,” she added.
The occasion featured the unveiling of Lasilkin Communication, the media arm of NASFAT, by its President/Chairman, Board of Directors, Alhaji Isiaq Abiola, who was represented on the occasion by the General Manager, Morufudeen A. Bello.
According to Mr. Bello, Lasilkin is designed to be the mouth-piece of the association by projecting what Islam represents to the public, noting that the communication outfit currently operates online and would soon on terrestrial broadcast.Â
This was just as he quickly recalled that the outfit recorded a total of 1.6 million viewers during the live streaming of the Friday, April 14 Jumaat service which took place at Aseese.
