THE Federal Government, on Monday, said it would give top priority to the completion of the Karshi water project awarded at the sum of N19, 438,012,125.99 because of its direct impact on the lives of the residents.

It stated that provision of water supply was one of the cardinal principles of the present administration led by President Muhammadu Buhari and therefore must be given top priority.

The Minister of Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Malam Muhammad Musa Bello gave this assurance when he paid an impromptu visit to the project site.

Malam Bello, in a signed statement by the Deputy Director/Chief Press Secretary, Muhammad Hazat Sule, a copy of which was made available to the Nigerian Tribune in Abuja, emphasized that the FCT administration would give adequate attention to the Karshi water system supply project including the dam and the water treatment plant to ensure that the populace start deriving maximum benefits.

According to him, “the Karshi water system supply project including the dam that we are inspecting today and the water treatment plant downstream, in addition to its reticulation into the city are all very critical projects that must be prioritized for completion.

“I have come together with the relevant agencies and their leadership, including the Permanent Secretary to see and have a firsthand feel of the project and its challenges, since Karshi is one of the Satellite Towns of the Territory”, he added.

The minister assured that the completion of the water project would go a long way in ameliorating the water problem in Karshi and its environs and, therefore, all efforts must be made to have it completed.

“In line with the government’s policy of trying to complete ongoing projects, particularly projects that have the widest potential benefit to the greatest number of people, we have considered this project a priority project and we do hope that we will be able to devote time and resources to see that it is completed in good time”, Malam Bello assured

The Director of Satellite Towns Development Department, Mrs. Victoria Imande led the minister and members of his entourages round the project site.
