Minister advises new perm sec not to underrate heads of agencies, others

Minister of State for Environment Ibrahim Jibril last week urged Dr Shehu Ahmed, the new Permanent Secretary, to work in synergy with directors of the ministry and heads of its parastatal agencies.

Jibril gave the advice in Abuja when the outgoing Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Environment, Dr Bukar Hassan, formally handed over to Ahmed.

“Don’t underrate the heads of the parastatal agencies as well as the directors and staff of this ministry because they are critical to your success,’’ he said.

The minister urged the outgoing and incoming permanent secretaries to never refrain from assisting themselves whenever the need arose.

Jibril, however, urged the management and staff of the ministry to learn lessons from the positive track record of Hassan.

Earlier, Hassan urged the management and staff of the ministry to extend the kind of support they gave to him to his successor, saying that their support would aid efforts to achieve the ministry’s mandate.

Responding, Ahmed solicited the support and cooperation of the management and staff of the ministry in efforts to move the ministry forward.
