Ekiti State governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose, on Wednesday, charged President Muhammadu Buhari to resign from office based on moral ground as it is quite clear that he could not perform duties assigned to his office in his incapacitated state, declaring that, “not resigning and continuing to rule in his incapacitated state borders on his integrity.”
President Buhari is currently in London receiving medical treatment, based on the advice of his doctors.
Fayose made this call while addressing newsmen at his Lagos residence through a statement he read, entitled, “Incapacitation – The Moral Burden, While Praying for President Buhari’s Recovery.”
He said Buhari, who is regarded as anti- corruption czar, to have continued to be in office in that state of health amounted to moral corruption.
According to Fayose, moral corruption is even worse than the financial corruption which Buhari claims to be fighting, adding that financial corruption could only come from someone who was morally corrupt.
“The worst form of corruption is moral corruption. It is worse than financial corruption which the presiden claims to be fighting. Corruption can only come from someone who is morally corrupt. For a president who prides himself as a anti- corruption czar, an incorruptible man, why is he finding it difficult to be morally upright and resign, knowing the hardship his redundancy is causing the economy/masses?
“Not resigning and continuing to rule in his incapacitated state borders on his integrity. Allowing others to perpetuate oppressive, corrupt actions and practices in his name because he’s incapacitated certainly means he himself is allowing evil and corruption thrive, because he has refused to be morally upright and pave way for capable hands to run the affairs of our country, which is daily deteriorating, and directionless,” Governor Fayose said.
Expressing his sadness further, Fayose declared, “Today, Nigerians are hungry and angry as they live in poverty and hardship due to the incompetence and cluelessness of ‘The- many- Governments- in – one’ Buhari led administration. Our country needs an able and hands- on leader.
“How long will Nigerians wait for “an incapacitated president” as things get worse daily in our nation? This change, never again!”
Giving an assessment of President Buhari in office, Governor Fayose described the “2 years of Buhari’s Change” a misadventure for Nigerians,” declaring that it was a government of failed promises, deceit and propaganda.
He also said the government was engaging in autocratic rule and human rights abuses, lamenting that the Buhari regime had continued to exhibit disregard for rule of law, court orders and constitutionality.
Besides, Fayose said the country under Buhari had also continued to witness intimidation and harassment of perceived opposition, within and without.
Speaking further, the Ekiti governor gave a knock to anti- corruption war of the Buhari regime, saying the country was witnessing advanced corruption and shielding of corrupt elements in government circles, even as he pointed out that “so many leaders who are supposed to be leaders of opposition have defected to the ruling APC” in order to be shielded from investigation and prosecution.
On power sector, Governor Fayose declared that Nigeria was now presented with worst power generation/supply than ever before, a situation, he said, had left Nigerians in an an unprecedented level of darkness.
He also listed that the unemployment and crime rate had been on the increase, with recession, downturn and economic shrinkage resulting in a badly devalued naira in the country, just as he also declared that the country was now in worst debt profile ever.
Fayose, while insisting that the rescue of Chibok Girls was stage- managed, said it was lamentable that herdsmen menace had continued with killings of innocent people in the country without arrest and prosecution, even though the government might have been winning war against Boko Haram,
According to him, the herdsmen had engaged in many more “killings like never before in our history.”
