Market women in Ogun get financial literacy, business skills training

The Enterprise Growth & Opportunities (EGO) Foundation, through its SheEnabled initiative, has successfully trained market women in Ogun State with the necessary financial literacy and assistance to grow and succeed in their enterprises.

This is just as staff and volunteers of the foundation visited commercial markets at Mowe and Ibafo to hand out and explain easily readable pamphlets titled “Bookkeeping Made Easy,” which were translated into their local language.

These booklets are intended to assist businesswomen in accurately monitoring their inventory and sales.

The foundation noted that the rationale behind the drive was to help equip the market women, because when businesses need money to improve and expand, this lack of crucial information may cause problems.

The drive was organised in partnership with Access Bank and Worden HCD, as discussions were held on how businesswomen can obtain grants and loans to improve their businesses.

“We believe this initiative will mark the beginning of better financial practices for our women and we are grateful to EGO Foundation and Access Bank for bringing this amazing initiative to these women” says one of the leaders.

A statement by the foundation further explained that: “Our mission at the EGO Foundation is to give women the tools and support they need to succeed in the workforce.

“Our commitment to empowering women and fostering economic growth in our communities is exemplified in Ogun State by the SheEnabled project.

“We can’t be happier to see the results of our efforts, and we can’t wait to continue on this journey of empowerment and transformation.”

According to Mr. Toluwase Olaniyan, the EGO Foundation’s executive director, palliatives were provided to the 2,021 women as the programme drew to an end, in an attempt to mitigate the impact of the economy on the broader public.
