March 18: OPC promises to prevent box snatching, electoral violence in South West

The Leadership of the mainstream Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC) made up of the genuine followers of the founder of the organization, Dr. Frederick Fasehun on Tuesday in Lagos promised to prevent box snatching and electoral Violence in South West.

The National President of OPC, Otunba Wasiu Afolabi while briefing Newsmen said that “there are fears of electoral Violence and break down of law and order in the forthcoming Governorship and House of Assembly election in some parts of the South West”

” OPC will like to take this position that Nigeria is home to everybody, the constitution guarantees citizens some basic rights which all Nigerians must enjoy and which cannot be flouted by anyone without a consequence. Some of the rights include the right to life, the right to freedom of peaceful assembly and Association and the right to freedom from discrimination”.

” OPC will do everything on Saturday, March 18, during the forthcoming Governorship and House of Assembly election to uphold this constitutionally guaranteed rights of all Nigeria citizens in South West States as it will not fold its hands and watch anybody or group of persons deprive any Nigeria of their v legal voting right in any polling unit located n South West.”

The National President strongly warned that OPC will not tolerate any form of electoral violence warning all those who have plans to prevent voters from exercising their electoral franchise of voting for their choice candidates to desist from such acts or face the consequences if caught.

The National Leader, Otunba Wasiu Afolabi added that with the support of its members, the organization has decided to throw its weight and support behind the Governor of Lagos State Babajide Sanwo Olu who is seeking for second term in office

“We have seen that Governor Babajide Sanwo Olu has shown himself to be worthy to be in the class of industrious performers. He has proven to be diligent, creative and compassionate leader consumed by a passion to bring improvement to the lives of Lagosians so the reason why the organization endorsed him for second term.”
