The defendant, of no fixed address, is standing trial on a two-count charge of house-breaking and theft.
The prosecutor, Zannah Dalhatu, told the court that one Emmanuel Bassy, of Life Camp, Abuja, reported the matter at the Life Camp Police Station, on April 8.
Dalhatu alleged that the complainant said that on the same date, the defendant broke into his house and stole his children’s clothes.
He said that during the police investigation, Garba was arrested and the clothes were recovered from him.

Dalhatu said that the offences contravened Sections 346 and 288 of the Penal Code.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges levelled against him.
The judge, Alhaji Abubakar Sadiq, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N20,000, and one surety in like sum, and adjourned the case until May 9, for hearing.
