The Nigeria Youths Awareness Group Makinde 2027 (NYAG Makinde 2027) has expressed its condolences to the Kano State government following the tragic loss of athletes and officials who were returning home from the recently concluded Gateway 2024 National Sports Festival (NSF) held in Ogun State.
The organization also extended its sympathy to the Niger State government and the residents of the Mokwa local government area affected by the devastating floods, which have claimed over 150 lives.
Making this known in a statement signed by the NYAG National Secretary, Lawal Abdullahi, a copy made available to journalists in Kano said “We are sympathizing with the Kano state government and the people of the state over the fatal accident that claimed 21 lives of Kano contingents who were coming from just-concluded National Sports Festival (NSF) in Ogun State”.
According to him “Our condolence and sympathy goes to Kano and Niger states, as well as to all Nigerians over these irreparable loss that had happened in the past week.”
“NYAG Makinde 2027, extended condolences to the families of those who lost their lives, the Kano State Government, the sports community and the entire people of the state. Allah ya jikan su da rahama.”
The group lamented that “As the State is waiting to receive this patriotic sons of Kano who have done the state proud at the recently concluded National Sports Festival in Abeokuta, only to be greeted with such devastating news.
We are consoled with the fact that the young Athletes met their death while on State assignment, the group said.
However, the group commended the Ogun state government, the Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, for sending a powerful delegation to Kano State to commiserate with the government over the loss of athletes and officials returning home from the just concluded Gateway 2024 National Sports Festival (NSF) held in Ogun State.
“This incident has caused untimely death to many people and brought untold hardship to hundreds of people across the state.”
