Rising from one day meeting of Ogene Ukwu Ndi Igbo, a non governmental organisation (NGO) on Monday, the acting president of the association Evangelist Franpeace Duruobi has called on the people of Eastern part of Nigeria to venture into food production as a preparation to sustain the zone.
Addressing the members of the association world wide at Dan Anyiam Stadium, Owerri, Imo State on Tuesday, he urged them to go into food production through agriculture.
According to him, any nation that failed to feed her people was bound to have problem of food scarcity.
Speaking further, the Duruobi revealed that necessary arrangement had been put in place to get agricultural machinery in place for modern agriculture and food production for the zone and the entire nation.
Evangelist Duruobi disclosed that he had been in close contact with the president of the association in the United States of America Prophet Lambert on the issue, pointing out that he was making frantic efforts to get in touch with their brothers overseas to help them get agricultural equipment for food production.
In his contribution, the patron of the association, Professor Eke Anyanwu, thanked members vision of food production and their efforts to restore the Igbo language.
He promised to take Ogene Ukwu Ndi Igbo to the highest level by making sure that it was brought into the fold of the association.
