LP calls for investigation into fire incident at NLC President’s residence

The Labour Party (LP) has expressed its solidarity with Joe Ajaero, the President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), following the recent fire incident at his home in Lagos.

In a statement issued in Abuja, the party called on the government to thoroughly investigate the cause of the fire.

According to reports, the fire originated from the roof and quickly escalated into a massive blaze, forcing family members of the union leader to evacuate the premises. Despite the efforts of neighbors and firefighters, the inferno could not be completely extinguished.

Reacting to the incident, Julius Abure, the National Chairman of the LP, emphasized the importance of conducting a comprehensive investigation to determine the cause of the mysterious fire. While refraining from assigning blame, Abure urged the government to leave no stone unturned in uncovering the truth behind the incident.

Abure stated, “We urge the government to carry out a proper investigation into the incident with a sincere intention to discover the cause of the mysterious fire, which occurred while Comrade Ajaero was attending a conference outside the country, serving the nation.”

He also highlighted the significance of prompt response and efficient action by the Fire Service in preventing loss of life and property. Abure encouraged the authorities to support and enhance the capabilities of the Fire Service to ensure its effectiveness in tackling fire incidents.

Addressing Ajaero directly, the LP National Chairman urged him not to be disheartened by the incident but to be guided by the NLC’s motto of ‘Aluta Continua’. He also expressed relief that no lives were lost in the fire.
