The Ladoke Akintola University of Technology Alumni Association, on Monday, inaugurated a former Commissioner for Special Duties and Rural Integration in Osun State, Engr Lekan Badmus, as its 5th global president and others as members of the executive body of the association.

Speaking at the institution’s Council Chamber, the acting Vice Chancellor, Professor Olatunde Kalilu, represented by the Dean, Faculty of Pure and Applied Sciences, Prof. Tunde Ogunkunle, stressed the importance of alumni association across the world, saying that LAUTECH alumni should be applauded for its significant role in the progress of the university.

Kalilu applauded the immediate past global president, Hon. Solomon Onilede, for his proactiveness on issues that matter, timely intervention on Faculty of Pure and Applied Sciences Building, and the bursary awards to indigent students among others.

He, therefore, charged the incumbent president to emulate the past regime and further project the association’s image and contribute meaningfully to the development of their alma mater.

Speaking, Badmus pledged that the association would continue to foster unity, innovation, and progress within the global alumni network.

Badmus appealed to the management of the university to consider re-opening the fees payment portal for undergraduate, dwelling on the grim economic situation in the country.

He announced that the alumni will generously sponsor the educational expenses of numerous deserving students for this session, ensuring that students are given the opportunity to continue their academic journey without the burden of financial stress.

Also inaugurated were Dr Adeyemi Adeboje, global deputy president, Engr Siyanbola Akeem, global vice president, North; Hon. Ojo Abolade, global vice president, South; Dr Olusoji Akinrinade, global vice president, Diaspora; Prof. Akeem Ige, global secretary.
