Lagos State government said on Wednesday that it has through the State’s Infrastructure Maintenance and Regulatory Agency (LASIMRA) constituted a Zero-Tolerance Task Force to comb the length and breadth of Lagos Island and identify all illegal and non-compliant rooftop masts or those that could compromise the structural integrity of buildings on which they were installed.
General Manager of LASIMRA, Mr. Babajide Odekunle, disclosed this in a release made available to newsmen, explaining that the move was a fall out from the collapsed building with an illegal and unapproved roof-top Mast on Massey Street, Lagos Island last week.
According to him, the exercise became highly necessary to protect lives and property of Lagosians, affirming that any non-compliant rooftop mast and those erected on perceived defective buildings with suspicious structural integrity would be de-rigged, while appropriate Government Agency would take further action on identified defective buildings.
He reiterated the commitment of the present administration to ensuring the safety of lives and property of all residents of the state.
