
Tribune online check round the major commercial areas of Jalingo gathered that there was a total grounded level of commercial activities compare to the usual patronage.
Though, Jalingo main market which is the major source of marketing activities in Jalingo was found open, the traders were mostly found seating idle as at the time Nigerian Tribune visited the market.
Banks, schools, government offices and other industries within the town were also seen closed which has resulted in given Jalingo a spirit of a ghost town.
The chairman Nigerian Union of Teachers NUT Taraba state chapter Comrade Peter Julius who spoke to Tribune online said teachers in the state have complied 100% with the nationwide strike.
Julius who spoke to our correspondent on phone said teachers in Taraba state would continue with the strike as far as NLC has mandated.
“Go round and check, no single school is open, we will continue to close down the schools till the right thing is done, I have given the directives to all our union members and their total compliance”
Also speaking to Nigerian Tribune, the secretary Nigerian Union of Local Government Employee Taraba state chapter Mr Fidelis Wombo who spoke on behave of his state president said all local government workers in the state have fully complied with the nationwide strike.
Wombo said it is the hope of local government workers in the state that if the new minimum wage is implemented at the national level, it would also transcend down local government workers in Nigeria.
Other Petty traders in Jalingo who spoke to our correspondent also lamented the negative impact of the nationwide strike to their trade.
The food vendors, road transport workers, fuel pump attendees, Tricycle Ridders were mostly seen idle on the streets of Jalingo as a result of the strike.
