National Communication Council (NCC) has taken what it called ‘protect and informed advocacy to consumers and subscribers of Communication Networks to the people of Kebbi.
In an interview with Journalists shortly after the advocacy session, the Director of Consumers Affairs Bureau, Abdulkadir Abubakar Umar said that one of their core mandates was to protect the consumers, inform them and protect them to know their rights and obligations as consumers and subscribers.
“We have a saying at the NCC which says, take advantage of NCC, so that no one will take advantage of you, basically this is why we are here to meet the people of Kebbi,” he said.
Alhaji Umar said further that, “we have come to inform them, educated them about the services and what the NCC is doing to protect their right, as we have over 220 million subscribers in this Country.”
Earlier, the Emir of Gwandu, Alhaji Muhammadu Illiyasu Bashar who was represented by the Galadinma Gwandu, Alhaji Ibrahim Bashar stated that the importance of Communication cannot be overemphasised, pointing out that communication plays important role in modern day life.
He, therefore, appealed to all stakeholders in Communication industry to always be alive to their responsibility by making sure that subscribers get value for their money by making all networks across the Country serve their customers adequately.
