THE vice-chancellor of KolaDaisi University (KDU), Ibadan, Professor Kolade Luke Ayorinde, says there is a need for government to declare a state of emergency in the education sector right from the primary to the university level.
“We need to do a kind of restructuring of the educational system if we are going to make it in the comity of the nations of the world,” he noted.
Professor Ayorinde made the call in his remarks while receiving at the institution a delegation of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Zone C, who had come to confer on him an award for outstanding performance.
In his speech entitled, ‘There is Hope’, Ayorinde said considering the endowments of youths in the nation today, if things are put in proper perspectives, Nigeria will be great.
“I believe there is still hope for our nation. With all that I have seen demonstrated here today, I’m, indeed, convinced that all hope is not lost for our nation,” he said.

While he appreciated NANS for the honour bestowed on him, the vice chancellor challenged members of the delegation led by the public relations officer of the association, Mr Kayode Adebayo, to also endeavour to make greater impacts wherever they find themselves and to be the very best at all they do.
In his remarks, the leader of the delegation, Adebayo, said the association in its 72n d senate sitting at the Kogi State Polytechnic resolved to honour eminent Nigerians who had made enormous contributions to national development, hence the honour bestowed on Professor Ayorinde.
“Professor Ayorinde was found to be a definition of integrity, a profound youth and student emancipator, philanthropist and diligent Nigerian most suited for our emulation as students,” he said.
The registrar KDU, Mrs Omotayo Ikotun and the bursar, Mr Yinka Babatunde, as well as other management members of the university who spoke about the vice-chancellor lauded him for his unique leadership qualities, and congratulated him on the “well-deserved honour.”
Earlier, the Public Relation Officer of the institution, Mr Abimbola Adebayo who conducted news men round the campus, hinted “that all is set in all the laboratories of the university for students to carry out practical works as they are now all equipped with state-of-the-art equipment.”
