The remains of Alhaja Wulemotu Ebunola Kashamu, mother of Ogun State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in the last election, Senator Buruji Kashamu, were on Thursday buried in Ijebu Igbo, Ogun State, according to Islamic rites.
Alhaja Kashamu, aged 96 years, died on Wednesday in Lagos during an illness. She was until her death, the Iya Suna of Ijebu Igbo.
Alhaji Abdulakeem Isa, the Noibul Imam of Ijebu Igbo, who led the fidau prayers for the deceased, said the death was inevitable and urged everyone to dedicate their lives to the worship of Allah and live with the purpose of making a positive impact on others.
Senator Kashamu, who spoke about his mother in an emotion-laden tone, described her as a mother in a billion.

“She was an exceptional mother. She was full of love and full of life. She was a selfless woman. She lived for others. I am going to miss her love. I am going to miss her counsel. I am going to miss her warmth. I pray that Almighty Allah will grant her Aljanah fridaus,” Senator Kashamu said.
Dignitaries who bade Alhaja Kashamu farewell in Ijebu Igbo include Senator Rochas Okorocha, former Imo State governor; Senator Gbenga Kaka, former deputy governor of Ogun State, and Senator Lekan Mustapha, the lawmaker representing Ogun East senatorial district at the National Assembly, Dr Reuben Abati, prominent politicians, frontline businessmen, and a host of others.
