KANO Road and Traffic Agency,( KAROTA)in its effort to assist the state in enforcing Sharia law, on Sunday, impounded a bus laden with a variety of alcoholic drinks and prohibited drugs in the state.
According to Nabilusi, the KAROTA operatives said the arrest was made at Sanya Olu Street, Sabon Gari area of the state while the men of the agency were carrying out a routine check on vehicles conveying loads on that routes.

He, however, disclosed that the driver of the vehicle who refused his vehicle to be searched drove off to avoid arrest and got a police escort to avoid further trouble before getting to his destination.
He further disclosed that the KAROTA operatives again ran into the vehicle where the compromised policeman and the conductor of the bus who gave his name as Bila was arrested while the driver fled the scene.
The Agency, therefore, enjoined the public to report any act, capable of causing a breakdown of law and order on the state roads.
The operatives of KAROTA said the agency has handed over the contrabands to the state Hisbah Board for further investigations.
