Malam Umar Namadi Danmodi, the Governor of Jigawa State, has expressed his deep concern over the recent recruitment exercise conducted by the Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC), in which the state was allegedly denied its fair share of positions.
A press statement posted on the Facebook timeline of the state’s Commissioner for Special Duties, Mr Auwal Danladi Sankara, highlighted the issue.
The statement disclosed that Jigawa State applicants were not shortlisted for the next stage of the NSCDC recruitment process, sparking questions about the fairness of the qualification criteria and selection process.
According to the statement, Jigawa State was initially allocated a total of 135 slots for the NSCDC recruitment exercise.
Despite 145 successful candidates from the state completing the physical screening at the Kaduna zonal headquarters, none of the applicants were deemed qualified for the job, a situation that contrasts with the selection of candidates from other states.
Sankara conveyed the Governor’s shared concern and proactive stance on the matter. Governor Umar Namadi has directed an investigation into the issue and has reached out to the commandant general of the NSCDC to seek clarification.
The Commissioner assured the affected applicants and the entire population of Jigawa State that the government is dedicated to resolving the matter.
He emphasised that the government is committed to the welfare of the state’s people and will strive for a just resolution.
Sankara stated that the government has already initiated inquiries with the relevant authorities to uncover the truth behind the reported disqualification of Jigawa State applicants.
He called on applicants and citizens to remain patient and assured them that the government is working tirelessly to address the issue and ensure justice prevails.
