THE Rotary Club of Iyaganku-Ibadan, Oyo State, on Saturday, inaugurated Iwadola Olufemi Samson as its 36th president.
Samson, who is the son of owners of Bovas Group, is expected to run the affairs of the club for the next one year.
In his acceptance speech, Samson lauded members of the club for the confidence reposed in him, just as he promised to continue the good work of his predecessor.
At his investiture which was held at the Jogor Centre, the new president further highlighted some of the projects he will embark upon. This includes renovation of classrooms in a school within the club’s community, environmental project-sustainable planting of trees at designated areas, facelift of the Rotary Youth Centre, water hygiene and sanitation project, disease prevention and treatment- administration of Hepatitis Virus vaccine, blood donation drive, polio vaccination, dental mission, among others.
He said: “My acceptance to be the 36th president of this great club is with utmost humility and gratitude to God as I thank all our past presidents and members for the opportunity to lead by serving in this position.
“I thank PAG Bankole Laotan; a founding father of this club who suggested and deemed it fit in the first place.
“The theme of this Rotary Year is ‘The magic of Rotary,’ and to achieve this, we need to help people beyond their comprehension with our projects.”
In his remarks, the immediate past president, Mr Dayo Famoyegun, said he is optimistic that the newly-elected president will achieve tremendous results during his tenure.
Famoyegun said: “Mr Iwadola Samson had been there for us throughout this Rotary year and I am confident that as my worthy successor, he is well-positioned to take this club to an enviable level.”
