I’ve been praying for 3yrs to know my successor ― Yari

GOVERNOR Abdulaziz Yari of Zamfara State has said he has been praying for 3 years to know his successor, saying the choice of the state commissioner for Finance, Alh Muktar Idris as his anointed candidate was beyond his powers.

“I have prayed and asked people to pray and at the end of the day, God showed us our choice, he stressed.

Speaking at a grand rally to present his gubernatorial aspirant and other aspirants in Gusau, Yari reminded the other gubernatorial aspirants to know that power belongs to God.

Quoting Koran verses to defend their actions, the governor maintained that the Holy book has reminded Muslims that he gives power to whom he wants at the time he wants.

He told the congregation that he was surprised that those who were knowledgeable among them and know the tradition of the party as regard to succession are now challenging the position of the leadership.

Going down memory lane, Yari disclosed that the former governor, Shinkafi was chosen by the singular decision of our leaders at that time, saying, as obedient followers and loyal party men we did not go against our leadership.

“I’m not restricting anybody from the contest but I have decided to anoint Muktar Idris as the APC flagbearer in the state, he stressed.

Commenting further, the governor also took a swipe at his critic who said he his government has done nothing on security.

According to him, “one of the governorship aspirants who was privy to the decisions we took was making such a frivolous allegation. I challenge him to fear Allah.
