Amidst growing insecurity in the country, the Department of State Services, DSS, has reportedly uncovered plots by Terrorists to launch a fresh attack on the Kaduna- Abuja Train of the Nigerian Railway Corporation, NRC.
A competent source with the Nation’s Secret Police told our Correspondent in Abuja on Friday that the sole motive of the Bandits was to kidnap the passengers on board for ransom payment.
Recall that an Abuja–Kaduna bound train was attacked in Katari village, Kaduna, on March 28, 2022, by deadly Terrorists which led to the temporary suspension of Train operations along the route.
The Source revealed that following this discovery, the Service had promptly alerted the Management of the Nigerian Railway Corporation, NRC of another planned attack on the route and the need for it to be extra vigilant.
A top official of the Corporation at the Kubwa, Abuja Service station confirmed the development to our Correspondent on Friday in confidence.
According to him, “We are on top of the situation from the day we got the security alert, the security forces are fully ground keeping eagles eyes on the Abuja-Kaduna routes and others nationwide.
” Air surveillance patrol; Surveillance on the rail track; Military checkpoint/patrol; Police checkpoint/patrol; Security raid operations are being carried out at black spots , there is no cause for concern for now, we don’t want to create fears in our customers”.
The Spokesperson of the DSS, Dr Peter Afunnaya could not be reached for comment as at the Press time a top official of the NRC confirmed the story saying that all hands were on the deck against the Terrorists.
