I’m still in PDP, says Ogun lawmaker

MRS Juliana Akintayo, a member of the Ogun House of Assembly, has dismissed  speculations that she had dumped the Peoples  Democratic Party (PDP) for the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Akintayo (PDP-Yewa-South) told newsmen in Abeokuta on Tuesday that she remains  a card-carrying member of the PDP.

The lawmaker said she had no plan to dump the party inspite of the fact that it has an   internal crisis.

Akintayo, the Chairman of the House Committee on House Service Matters, said  that the PDP   remains  a strong opposition party in the state.

According to her, PDP will continue to map out strategies  that would benefit the citizens.

“I remain a card-carrying member of Peoples Democratic Party and its representative in the state Assembly.

“I don’t have any plan to leave my party inspite of the fact that there is an internal crisis among the party leaders  and this would  soon be resolved amicably.

“If you see me at  government functions, that does not mean that I am already with their party; I attend functions on invitation.

“I can decide to go to any political party tomorrow, if and only if my political leader, Isiaq Abiodun Akinlade, a former member of Federal House of Representatives, decides to leave PDP.

“I cannot do anything alone,’’ she said.

The lawmaker promised that she would continue to support bills that would benefit the people of her constituency and the state.
