
A Special Force, raised by the Inspector General of Police, IGP, code-named “Intelligence Response Team, IRT” under the leadership of an Assistant Commissioner of Police, has nabbed suspected six notorious kidnappers in the creeks in Port-Harcourt, Rivers state.
The Special force was said to have been put in place by the IGP under the “Operation Absolute Sanity” and saddled with the responsibility of eradicating the increasing waves of high profile crimes such as robbery, kidnapping, cattle resulting, pipeline vandalisation and others in the society.
According to the Police source, the suspects were picked up at different locations in both Rivers and Bayelsa States respectively following tipped-off.
The gang was said to have been responsible for the kidnapping of a 61 years old Chief Nemi Adoki, the CEO Menakeb Limited in December last year as well as the Killing of one Maikano Abdullahi at about No.129 Victoria Street in Port-Harcourt.
It was gathered that suspects including the sacked driver of Chief Adoki collected a sum of N9million before the release of Adoki while Abdullahi was reportedly killed when no ransom was forthcoming as promised by his relatives. And that two pump action guns and other dangerous weapons were recovered from the members of the gang on the arrest.
According to our source,”following the killing of Maikano Abdullahi and kidnapping of Chief Nemi Adoki on 15/12/17 and his eventual release on payment of 9million Naira ransom on 04/01/18 after 21days of captivity in the Creeks of Akuku-Toru LGA of Rivers State between 15/01/18 and 5/2/18 Operatives of the IGP- Intelligence Response Team IRT deployed to PH by IGP Idris Ibrahim during unrelenting follow up arrested Six members of the Kidnapping gang from different locations In Rivers and Bayelsa states.
“Suspects arrested and roles played are, Justice Timothy, deadly gang leader, uses the AK47 and responsible for the death of Mikano Abudullahi.
“He was in charge of negotiation and his share of the ransom was N 1.8million.

“Akpos Livinus, coordinator of the gang’s operations, he arranged the weapons used and the location of the stronghold in the creeks, his share was N1.2milion.
“Daniel Allen, Participated in the kidnap, also negotiated for ransom, his share is N1 million.
“Kelvin Alpheus was tasked with cooking and running errands for the gang & hostages, his share was N400,000.
“David Abak, the driver of the operational vehicle used for the kidnap, his share was N800, 000 and the six one.
“Tekena Silva sacked driver of the Victim, Chief Nemi Adoki, who brought the kidnapping job to the group got N1 million share from the Ransom.”
Though the Force Public Relations Officer, FPRO, CSP Jimoh Moshood could not be immediately reached as at the Press time, a very Senior Officer who confirmed the story in Confidence to the Nigerian Tribune said that serious efforts were being made towards arresting the only one gang member still at large.
