Oyo State High Court sitting in Ibadan has adjourned the case involving the former wife of Ooni of Ife, Naomi Sikekunola, the Chairman of an Ibadan-based broadcasting station, Alhaji Oriyomi Hamzat, and the Principal of Islamic High School, Abdulahi Fasasi till 10th of March 2025 for further hearing.
The trio is facing trial for their alleged involvement in Ibadan stampede that led to the death of 35 minors.
The state government has filed fresh 18-count charges at the High Court after being released on bail on the case earlier filed at the Magistrate on the ground that Holden’s charge is not known in the face of the law.
However, the Court on Tuesday adjourned the case for further hearing.
In a sideline interview, Counsel to one of the defendants, Alhaji Oriyomi Hazmat, Adekunle Sobaloju (SAN), said that the court could not proceed on the defendants’ cases because they have not been served with their complaints.
Also, the Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice, Abiodun Aikomo, explained that the arraignment of the defendants was stalled because they could not confirm whether their sureties would still support them in the new case.
All the defendants were present in the Court.
