Narrating the incident before an Ikeja High Court, Adeniran said the suspects were people she had previously helped.
The alleged robbers, William Udo and Lazarus Obong had earlier pleaded not guilty to a 6 count charge of armed robbery and conspiracy to commit robbery.
Testifying further, Adeniran said that she was asleep on the night of the incident when the armed men, six in number, came into her apartment through a window.
“The 1st defendant, Udo, asked me to lie down that he wanted to rape me. I pleaded with him that I was pregnant, and he thereafter demanded for money.
“While they were ransacking my room, the second defendant tried to strangle me with my scarf but I kept pleading with him. They found about N600,000 in my wardrobe and also took away my gold chain, bracelets and seven handsets.”
“My children were traumatized by the experience. Not only was I robbed, they also invaded my traditional clinic and also robbed the nurses there.
“As soon as they stepped out of my house to get away, I raised an alarm because the money they took from me belonged to some people who were doing monthly contribution with me. I ran after them while shouting for help.”
“There was an exchange of gunfire with the OPC people who later apprehended them and handed them over to the police at Isheri,” she said.
Justice Oluwatoyin Ipaye adjourned the matter till June 15 for continuation of trial.
