Noodles is one food that has captured the appetite of many Nigerians.
There are different ways of making noodles. Noodles can be stir fried, it can be cooked and garnished with different ingredients. This delicacy is mostly consumed and loved, appreciated by children. This delicacy has become one of the favourite meals of Nigerians. It is easy to make and not time wasting. This meal is also consumed by both young and old.
Ingredients for Noodles stir
- 1 cup of stir fry veggies to fry every 2 packets of noodles, anything can make up your veggies such as carrot, runner beans, red bell pepper (ata rodo), green bell pepper, cabbage, baby corn, peas and any vegetable of your choice.
- Shredded meat, firm fish or sea food. This must already be cooked well especially prawns and sea foods
- Olive oil (ground nut oil)
- 1 table spoon of curry powder
- 1 table spoon of thyme
How to prepare Noodles stir fry
- Chop the onion and ata rodo and add to the veggies. Sprinkle on the curry, thyme and garlic salt.
- Boil 1 cup of water and the noodles and the seasoning.
- Heat up the frying pan to very high heat. If you use raw sea food for instance prawns, sprinkle, pinches of curry, thyme and garlic salt and stir on each side for 1 minutes each and set aside.
- If you are not using any seafood, simply start with stir frying the veggies. Stir frying is basically frying in a little oil by stirring regularly. Fry until you see the veggies start to soften and slightly wilt. This should take about 2 minutes with this recipe, your veggies should still be crisp and crunchy.
- Add your choice of meat and a tablespoon of balsamic vinegar or soy sauce, toss around and keep on the heat for another two minutes tossing regularly.
- Drain any excess liquid from the boiled Noodles and add to your frying pan. Using a very big pasta serving spoon, toss around the noodles till it has thoroughly mixed with the veggies. This should take a minute or two.
- This is a perfect meal for weekday meal. Serve, enjoy your meal.

Another important way of making Noodles is by using other types of ingredients. For instance, pieces the Noodles in a bowl and pour hot water to it, allow noodles to get soft for about five minutes.
- Set your frying pan on fire, add sliced tomatoes, onions, fresh pepper and fry for about 5 minutes.
- Sieve the Noodles and add the sauce inside the pack while still in the bowl, at this point the noodles will be both soft and hot.
- Break two eggs into the small bowl containing the noodles and stir together, then transfer to the frying pan and finish up with the rest of the preparation.
- The frying pan should contain the fried tomatoes, onions and peppers, cook and stir for about five minutes and voila, you have just made one of the best and easiest Noodles.
- Serve, enjoy your meal.
You can also prepare Noodles to just follow the instruction on the pack by cooking it alone, then serve with fired or boiled egg. This process of making Noodles is the most easy and simple way. It is also the most plain way of making this delicacy. Though most people find it as a boring way of preparing Noodles.
There is another method of preparing Noodles which is with microwave. But this process must be made by experts, not advisable for children.
- Boil some water in a kettle. You will need about 200ml of water.
- Cook on a high heat for two minutes till the noodles are cooked.
- Once cooked, carefully drain the water from the bowl.
- Place the bowl back in the microwave and cook for further two minutes. When done, serve the delicacy.
- Serve, eat and enjoy your meal, with a bottle of coke or juice.
