It’s a 60-room facility tastefully furnished and equipped with all necessary amenities for all kinds of travellers-on business trip or a well deserved weekend holiday. The classy hotel which is designed to help patrons unwind after a stressful day is about 25 minutes drive from Ilorin International Airport. Interestingly, customers can have a view of the landscape of the ancient city of Ilorin from any of their luxury rooms.
Welcome to G-Pinnacle Suites, the ideal destination of fun seekers and the trending hotel in Kwara state, North Central Nigeria.
Six months after the hotel opened for business, the facility has continued to attract patronage. Listed in its clientele are captains of industries, tourists, politicians and affluent individuals from within and outside the state. Indeed it is now the first choice of many government agencies and international organisations.
G-Pinnacle Suites has accommodation for different categories of clients, no matter your budget; be it Fortress Single, Deluxe, City View Suite or Country Side Double. The rooms are comfy, not overly large with plush furnishings, deluxe amenities, and internet facilities.
For any client who cares for a cup of tea, you need not step out of your room or dial room service to have one. Right on your table is a complete tea set for your pleasure.
The hotel is ahead of the competition in the hospitality industry. “Before we opened for operation on December 15, we made sure we recruited some of the best hands in the business and we have continued to give them the right training daily.
“The owner had expected that for six months, she would bear the running cost, but here we are today, we pay salaries, fuel our generators, pay electricity bills and others from our sales without having to rely on our boss for financial support.
“I can tell you, the level of our patronage is highly encouraging but we will continue with our strategic marketing which has taken us to Abuja and we also look forward to visiting other major cities in the country. This is in addition to our heavy presence online,” says Mr Funso Ibrahim, the general manager.
On the maintenance of the hotel, Ibrahim notes “in hospitality business, you need to be dynamic and constantly improve on your services. Our hope is that we will continue to maintain and upgrade our facilities.
“Management has made it a priority that all equipment and facility are functional round the clock. Guests are encouraged to provide a feedback on their experience and such are given prompt attention.”
“To boost the productivity of its 70 employees, the management provides them with meals while on duty in addition to rewarding the most efficient staff every month. “Also, for effective service delivery, the workers are trained and re-trained. “Any wrong attitude of our employees can make or mar our business, so we don’t condone indiscipline or poor customer relation,” says Ibrahim.
On what differentiates G-Pinnacle from competitors, Ibrahim, who has about 15 years experience in facility management, says: “It has to be our cleanliness. We want to ensure that every customer who comes here finds our environment clean at all times. Our rooms must always be attractive to everyone and we have a host of dedicated staff to maintain that trend.”
At the restaurant, lodgers have a licence to the best local and international cuisines at highly affordable rates. Some of the dishes that are served include; Jambalaya rice, pounded yam with egusi or vegetable soup, goat meat, ogbono, edikangikan soup, seafood and snail.
The hotel has a friendly night environment, especially on Fridays and Saturdays. “Our DJ is always ready to treat guests to the best music in town including the old skool. Also, we have all kinds of wine for their delight,” said, Endurance Ifuwe, a potter at the hotel.
At the gym, which is opened from 8am-12pm and 5pm to 9pm daily, clients can either pay to suit their pockets and surprisingly, the prices are moderate compared to the equipment on display.
Since opening, there has been no case of missing items or casualties. “We have always made the security of our guests a priority. Every lodger wants a facility where they can sleep comfortably with their two eyes closed”, says Ibrahim.
“Nobody will patronise you if your environment is not secure. We have well equipped private security officers who are also well trained. We work with the Nigeria Police and other security agencies in the state. So far, we have never experienced any security challenge and aside from that our staff are contented and well motivated not to steal from any of our customers,” Ibrahim elaborates.
During the last Eid-el-Fitri celebrations, revelers, especially students from various tertiary institutions, had a good time at the poolside enjoying its ambiance. Some of them, first-time visitors, expressed delight at finding the right place to spend their leisure time and holidays.
“I heard about this hotel from a friend and I must confess everything about G-Pinnacle is decent and I hope to adopt the facility as my regular recreational centre,” says Oluwakemi Mustapha, a student of Igbo-Owu Polytechnic.
Fatimah Solihu, computer science student at Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin, adds “ the atmosphere here is unique and the structure is second to none. As you can see, we are all enjoying our Sallah celebration at the poolside and I believe I have found the right place to always hang out with my friends.”
Despite facilities to make it rank among the best in the state, there are plans to expand the business in future. “Though we are still very young in the business, we are already looking at expansion. Across the road is an expanse of land that we intend to use as a subsidiary of G-Pinnacle Suites.
“There are plans to add more rooms, possibly 40. Additionally, we intend to construct a bigger hall that will accommodate between 300 and 400 people. We are also considering improving our recreational facilities. We don’t want to be seen as a ‘local champion’ so we intend to replicate what we have here in other states as well,” Ibrahim explained.
