Kano State Hisbah Board has confiscated two vehicles on Kano/Madobi Road loaded with 5,760 cartons of assorted beer worth millions of Naira.
This was just as the agency said “Hisbah board has prohibited sale of beer in the state to avoid (people) being intoxicated.”
According to a statement signed by the Public Relations Officer of the board, Lawan Ibrahim-Fagge, in Kano, a copy made available to pressmen, the agency said it will continue to work to promote the tenets of Islam.
CommanderGeneral of the board, Dr Harun Ibn-Sina, while inspecting the vehicles at the board’s headquarters, said they were confiscated by Hisbah officials around 4:00 am on Wednesday.
He disclosed that the board would continue to sustain the fight against drugs and other intoxicating substances among youths in the state.
The commander-general said efforts at ridding the society of the menace of drugs and other intoxicants would be sustained.
Ibn-Sina then commended the efforts of Hisbah corps, volunteers and stakeholders, for their commitment, adding that the unwholesome practice of drinking among youths had been a source of concern to the society.
