Gunmen in the early hours of Monday morning stormed the residence of the Niger State Commissioner for Information, Mohammed Sani Idris, and abducted him.
This was contained in a statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mary Noel-Berje, on Monday.
The statement said the bandits stormed his residence at Baban Tunga in Tafa local government area around 1 a.m. and kidnapped him.
However, the statement said that security agencies are after the bandits in order to set him free and apprehend the culprits.

“Niger State Government has confirmed the kidnap of the Commissioner for Information, Mohammed Sani Idris.
“The commissioner was said to have been kidnapped by bandits at about one o’clock in the early hours of today from his home at Baban Tunga village in Tafa local government of the state.
“Security agencies are however already trailing the bandits with a view to apprehending them.”
