Suspected bandits on Tuesday morning, invaded the staff quarters of the University of Abuja (UNIABUJA) and abducted a professor of Economics, Obansa Joseph, two of his children, and other staff of the university whose identities are yet to be confirmed.
A source told Nigerian Tribune that the gunmen invaded the senior staff quarters at Giri in Gwagwalada Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) at 1 a.m on Tuesday and operated for about an hour.
The University in its Facebook handle confirmed that four staff of the University and their children were abducted during the attack.
It said: “Suspected bandits attacked the staff quarters of the University in the early hours of today.
“Our Safety officers, in conjunction with security personnel, mobilised to secure the quarters.
“We have reported that four of our staff and their children were, nevertheless, abducted by the evil men.
“Efforts are being made to ensure their safe return. A sad day for us, indeed!”
