The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti State has thrown its weight behind Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s re-election bid, insisting he must be returned as governor in the 2026 poll to consolidate on his developmental strides.
State chairman of the APC, Sola Elesin, stated this during a three-day project tour across the three senatorial districts of the state, where members of the State Executive Council inspected projects executed under Oyebanji’s six-pillar shared prosperity agenda.
According to the State Publicity Secretary, Segun Dipe, the party leadership was impressed with the scope and impact of the administration across all sectors.
Dipe said: “Projects inspected during the tour include agricultural farms, power substations, roads, both completed and still under construction, hospitals, schools, the Ekiti Agro-Allied International Cargo Airport, the Ring Road Phase 1, and so on.”
Elesin, in his remarks, described Oyebanji’s performance as exceeding expectations.
“There is no doubt that the governor (Oyebanji) has done a yeoman’s job. He has performed creditably well, even beyond our expectations. Little wonder the good people of the state are heaping praises on him and yearning for his second term in office. We will surely ensure that the governor comes back to complete the works yet to be completed and do even more,” he said.
The APC chairman further lauded the governor’s efforts in tackling road infrastructure, poverty, insecurity, and reviving moribund state-owned enterprises.
“We are further enthused by the Oyebanji administration’s programmes and projects, and the fact that they are spread across the 16 Local Government Areas and 22 LCDAs in Ekiti State, in tune with the governor’s six-pillar inclusive development model.
“We equally appraise the governor’s drive to make the state conducive for business as reflected in its Ease of Doing Business rating, culminating in attracting both local and foreign direct investments into the state. The state has also been ranked as the safest in Nigeria, as well as scoring high in financial prudence,” Elesin added.
The party leadership assured that the APC would rally full support to ensure Oyebanji is re-elected for another term to complete his ongoing projects and expand development in the state.
