Members of the Osun state chapter of the Civil society organizations on Monday staged a peaceful protest in Osogbo, Osun state capital to register their grievances against bad governance and the spate of insecurity in the Country.
The protesters who converged at the Freedom Park at Old- garage area in the town as early as 9.00 a.m of the day, were armed with different inscriptions that read: ” We are tired of incessant insecurity in the country,” ” Enough is Enough on bad governance,” ” People could no more sleep with their two eyes closed.”
Other inscriptions read, “National Day of Action Against Insecurity In Nigeria,” “We Demand Uninterrupted Power Supply, National Security,” “Stop anti-people policies, “Make government refineries work, “End Banditry, “We Say No to fuel Price Hike, “End insurgency and Kidnapping now, “We say no to the high cost of living, “Let the youth lead” among others.
They mobilised themselves in a formidable group before marching down to different locations in the town to sensitise residents of the state on the reasons why they should stand up to condemn the wicked governance that has rocked the country.
The protesters who were mainly youths affirmed that they would always go against injustice, maladministration, bad governance and other ungodly acts that have thrown residents into a state of confusion.
At Station road and Fagbewesa area of the town, the angry-looking protesters addressed shop owners, traders, artisans and others around the place to join the group In righting all wrongs that have befallen the country.
While addressing residents of the town, Comrade Waheed Lawal said “despite the human and natural resources the country is endowed with, poor leadership has put the country in the wrong direction leading to untold hardship among the masses”.
He however charged the masses to come out in unison to fight and put an end to bad leadership, bad governance, insecurity and other nefarious activities in the country.
