A group christened Jos South All Progressive Stakeholders has condemned the recent defection of a member of House of Representatives, representing Jos South/Jos East federal constituency of Plateau State Hon. Edward Pwajok to the Peoples Democratic Party and described his defection as backstabbing of his political associates.
Hon. Edward Pwajok along with some notable APC members in Plateau State on Saturday defected to the Peoples Democratic Party at the presidential campaign rally held at Polo ground in Jos Plateau State on Saturday.
Addressing newsmen on the development on Monday in Jos, the team of the stakeholders led by Hon. Ayuba Pam expressed disappointment on the defection adding that it came to many of his associates as a surprise considering the relationship between him and the leadership of APC and Governor Lalong in particular in the state.
Hon. Pam said the federal lawmaker did not consult his followers and APC stakeholder in Jos South local government before his defection adding that Pwajok had since abandoned his followers and kept his defection and senatorial aspiration to himself
“Since May 2017 when we officially defected to the APC, he has never for once saw the wisdom in calling us together to sit and reappraise our status. We were all kept in a political limbo, hanging in the air not knowing where to go except that we should wait and dance to his tune. This continued up till the late hours that he contested for the primaries of the party for the northern Senatorial seat which he lost to Hon Rufus Bature, the immediate past Secretary to the Government of the State-SGS”. He said
According to him, Hon. Pwajok only called his associates to a meeting after he lost the senatorial primary to intimate them of leaving the APC for PDP without any cogent reason adding that those present at the meeting told him that he would be first federal lawmaker to decamp from a political party to the other and within the same legislative calendar year re-decamp again but avoided all entreaties that came close to his ears.
He condemned the allegation that he was neglected by Governor Lalong adding that nobody has enjoyed the closeness and goodwill of the Governor than Hon Edward Gyang Pwajok SAN.

“On whether it is true he was neglected by the governor! Here the Hon member lied! Since 2017, nobody has enjoyed the closeness and goodwill of the Governor than Hon Edward Gyang Pwajok SAN. Before our decamping, we organized a medical constituency outreached in Vwang where the governor led the entire state executive to grace the occasion. This was a clear demonstration of the love the governor had for him and in the spirit of a by-partisanship attended.
“Again, the governor had been more forthcoming calling him and at some point travelling with him to state functions home and abroad, a rare opportunity that he did not get while he served as the State attorney general for more than eight years,” he said.
Pam said despite the respect the people of his constituency and the state at large have for him, the action he took to return back to the PDP has put his revered credibility into question adding that as his political associates they felt betrayed and disappointed.
He further stated that Hon. Pwajok Let returned alone to PDP adding that all his associates and supporters in Jos South have resolved to carry on and vowed to ensure total victory for APC in Jos South.
“We want to make it abundantly clear that we have total confidence on the capabilities and doggedness of the management committee chairman, Hon. Dr Gideon Dung Davou to lead the entire local government to victory in this coming elections. We are proud of his leadership style and assure him of our loyalty and support. It is the resolved of our local government that Governor Lalong remains our Rescue Captain and together we shall work to deliver all our candidates at the forthcoming elections God willing” he said.
