The outgoing pro-chancellor and chairman, Governing Council of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), Dr Aboki, has charged members of staff to put aside their differences and work in unity with the vice chancellor, Professor Kolawole Salako, to move the university to a greater height.
Speaking at the valedictory session held in the honour of the sixth governing council, Dr Zhawa, appreciated the entire university community for their cooperation during his tenure,
According to him, though the sixth council resumed at a time when the university was in crisis, it was able to surmount them all.
The former permanent secretary, Ministry of Education described his experience in the university as an excellent one with valuable contributions from various people.
He commended other members of the council; the vice chancellor and the entire university community for accommodating him, stating that he will always be available to serve the ivory tower whenever the need arises while he solicited for their continued support for the incoming council members.
He appealed to the vice chancellor to forgive whoever had offended him and pleaded with the members of staff to learn to utilise people’s skills effectively just as he encouraged then to give the best,
“Never look down on anyone, learn to work harmoniously with one another. Zhawa said.
In his remarks, the vice chancellor, Professor Kolawole Salako, appreciated the outgoing Governing Council Members for their support and commended the chairman for being a man of peace.
Professor Salako also described him as a man full of real-life experiences who has taught the management many valuable things, stressing that despite coming at a time when the university was in crisis, he was able to address the situation through his wealth of experience.
In separate goodwill messages by some members of council namely Professor Adesina Agboola, Dr Yakubu Tor-Agbidye, Prince Olusola Tobun and the institution’s registrar, Dr ‘Bola Adekola, they appreciated the pro chancellor for his unique leadership style and for being at the forefront to always ensure there is peace in the university.
Also speaking at the event, the registrar, Dr ‘Bola Adekola, appreciated other members of the council for their cooperation and assistance given to the vice chancellor in transforming his vision to reality in different aspects in the university.
It will be recalled that the Minister of Education, Mallam Adamu Adamu, inaugurated the Governing Council for the university in May 2017 with members being Dr Aboki Zhawa as the pro-chancellor and chairman; Dr Yakubu Tor-Agbigeye, Mrs Titilope Ajayi, Professor Femi Olufunmilade and Mrs Nkem Ezeomah, Mr Oluseyi Adekambi and Mr Muhammed Attai Sidi-Ali.
