Hajiya Nana Kashim Shettima, the wife of Nigeria’s Vice President, received a warm welcome at Archibong Lodge, the temporary office of the Governor in Cross River State.

She attended in her capacity as Vice Chairman of the Renewed Hope Initiative, representing First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu.

During his address, Governor Prince Bassey Edet Otu commended the significant role of the Renewed Hope Initiative in empowering women and uplifting communities throughout Nigeria.

“Today is a remarkable day for our state. We have eagerly anticipated this distinguished visitor, and we extend a warm welcome to you on behalf of Cross River State,” the governor stated.

He emphasized the necessity of empowering women for societal progress and applauded the initiative’s impressive outreach and effectiveness.

“To foster a dynamic society, it’s essential to uplift our women. Men must fully support them,” he urged, reiterating the state government’s commitment to easing the economic challenges faced by its citizens.

In her remarks, Hajiya Shettima expressed her appreciation for the hospitality of Cross River State, acknowledging the state’s contributions to the Renewed Hope Initiative. She specifically thanked Rev. Mrs. Eyowan Bassey Otu, the state coordinator and the governor’s wife, for her outstanding leadership.

“Calabar truly exemplifies hospitality,” she remarked, highlighting the initiative’s ongoing commitment to assisting the state with various programs designed to alleviate hardships. “By God’s grace, this is just the beginning, and we have more impactful projects underway,” she emphasized.

Her visit included the distribution of food items to assist vulnerable groups in the state, underscoring the initiative’s focus on grassroots development.

Notable attendees included Fathima Tajudeen Abass, the Wife of the Speaker of the House of Representatives; Racheal Owan Enoh, the Wife of the Minister of State for Industry, Trade, and Investment; and Mrs. Nelly Elbert Ayambem, the Wife of the Speaker of the Cross River State House of Assembly, among others.

As the Renewed Hope Initiative expands its outreach, Cross River State serves as a model of collaboration and dedication to the advancement of its citizens.
