Plateau State Governor, Barr Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, has expressed shock over the brutal attack orchestrated by unknown individuals that occurred between Nafan village in Fan District and Doruwa Babuje in Ropp District of Barkin-Ladi Local Government Area of the state, leading to the death of a 17-year-old Fulani herder and 35 cows.
In a statement signed by his Director of Press and Public Affairs, Mr. Gyang Bere, the Governor called on security agencies to fish out the perpetrators, stating that those behind the crime were riding motorcycles when they opened fire on the victim, resulting in the death of the 17-year-old boy, while another person was injured.
Governor Mutfwang, while sympathizing with the deceased family, condemned in totality the acts of lawlessness and said the unholy act undermines the government’s effort in entrenching harmonious living among all and sundry in the state.
He stated that his administration will no longer tolerate brutal killings of innocent citizens either in their farms or in any parts of the state while pursuing their legitimate means of livelihood.
Governor Mutfwang directed security agencies to hunt and track down the perpetrators of the heinous crimes and ensure justice for the victims.
He urged traditional, community, and religious leaders, as well as youths and women in the affected communities, to collaborate with other stakeholders to commence dialogue and restore normalcy, while exposing criminal elements within the communities to face the full wrath of the law.
Governor Mutfwang expressed heartfelt condolences to the affected families and prayed to God to grant them the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss and heal the injured.
