Taraba State Governor Darius Ishaku on Friday presented to the state house of assembly, N146, 781,653,671,82 billion budget appropriation bill for the 2022 fiscal year.
The budget tagged, “Budget of hope and consolidation” represents an increase of N5,156,217,710 billion or a 3.64% increase than the 2021 approved budget.
According to governor Ishaku, as a sub-national government with no control over monetary policy, the state budget was a key fiscal policy tool and only opportunity to isolate the state economy from negative shock and turn the tide toward growth and development as it was also a mechanism to achieving the rescue agenda.
He said the 2022 budget was guided by the macroeconomics variables as determined by the federal government like International oil price benchmark of $57,000 per barrel, oil production quotes of 1.88m per barrel, United States dollar exchange rate to N410.15, the inflation rate of 13% and A GDP growth rate of 4.20%
Earlier, the speaker of the Taraba state house of assembly, Joseph Albasu Kunini expressed that the previous appropriation bills presented by governor Ishaku since 2016 were able to put smiles on the faces of the people of the state.
The speaker said, due to the governor’s dogged commitment to maintaining a cordial and harmonious working relationship with all branches of government in the state particularly the legislature, the assembly would be mindful of the imperative and sensitive nature of the timely processing and passage into law of the appropriation bill.
