In a world where less women are visible in the political, financial and governance sphere, it is imperative to have women communities that will encourage women to express their vulnerabilities in a safe space and be empowered by one another.Â
This is why Omodolapo Jayeola, a mom, founder, and brand strategist of Goal Women Africa is set to launch a community for women on 23rd of September, 2023.
Omodolapo has committed herself to empowering women, hence she is launching a women community in September, for women to optimise their potential, care for their mental health and network with others who can connect them with opportunities to flourish.Â
She explains that “Goal women’s Africa community is an initiative geared with the aim to help women relieve the mental stress of not being heard or not being enough in the society to which they belong.
“It is a community that seeks to illuminate the desire of women to become more empowered and have access to programs and facilities that enhance their skills and expertise.Â
“Our aim is to help women appreciate and embrace leadership skills and also organise mentorship projects to help them improve their deliverability.
“Our Women’s community aims to help women find their voices and get more audacious with the dreams they birth.
“In our women’s community you will have access to; A safe place for sharing your story, becoming active in activism and advocacy.
“You get a supportive network that recognizes and highlights your achievements.
Research has shown that Women communities encourage the sharing of stories and journeys, which help in breaking archaic patterns.Â
Negative patterns in the practice of child marriage, female genital mutilation, spousal abuse are tackled by sensitising women in their collective forum.Â
More so, female empowerment in Nigeria which is often a poverty reduction measure should not only be about finances but it also ensures the development of women’s political, social, economic and mental strength for nation building.Â
This is why initiatives like Omodolapo’s Goal Women Africa is imperative to bridge the gender gap and increase the inclusion of women in the social and political sphere of life.
The launching of the community will hold at Jogor Center, Harvester drive, off liberty road Ibadan.
