Digital solutions provider, Globacom, has introduced its e-SIM service, offering customers who activate the SIM and purchase a data plan of at least N1,500 an instant 5GB data bonus.
In a statement issued in Lagos, the company explained that the e-SIM is a software-based digital chip embedded directly into smartphones and wearable devices, eliminating the need for a physical SIM card.
“Customers on any network can enjoy ‘SIM-less’ freedom with Glo e-SIM as an additional SIM on their phones,” the statement read.
The e-SIM allows users to switch between multiple numbers without needing to swap physical SIM cards, making it particularly convenient for frequent travelers and professionals on the move. Globacom also highlighted its security benefits, noting that the e-SIM is more difficult to remove from a device, reducing the risk of theft or unauthorized access. Additionally, the technology is eco-friendly as it eliminates plastic waste from traditional SIM cards.
According to the company, the e-SIM caters to high-net-worth individuals and enterprise customers, reinforcing its commitment to providing innovative and future-ready services.
To activate the e-SIM, customers can check their device compatibility by dialing *#06#. If an EID number appears on the screen, the device supports e-SIM. They can then visit the nearest Gloworld shop or authorized Glo dealer outlet for activation, a process that takes only a few minutes before they can start enjoying the benefits of e-SIM technology.
