Aare Onakakanfo of Yoruba land, Iba Gani Adams, has congratulated the leader of Afenifere – a pan-Yoruba socio- political group – Pa Reuben Fasonranti as he clocks 97 years, describing the elder statesman as an advocate of restructuring, who remains a strong force in Nigeria’s history.
Iba Adams said this on Friday in a congratulatory message issued by his Special Assistant on Media, Mr. Kehinde Aderemi, stating further that Pa Fasonranti’s life was a testimony of his dedication to the growth and development of humanity.
The Yoruba generalisimo, who further described the Afenifere leader as one of the disciples of the sage, Chief Obafemi Awolowo, said his record of honesty, discipline, transparency as a teacher, lecturer and former commissioner stood him out as a man of integrity.
According to Iba Adams, “Yoruba is blessed to have Pa Fasoranti around at this critical time when those qualities have become relatively scarce commodities in the society, but quickly said some of them that were looking up to him were gaining alot from his wealth of experiences and knowledge and were happy to celebrate Baba’s life of service to humanity.
“Baba was a teacher of all teachers. He is a disciplinarian and advocate of restructuring.He did his best in promoting the ideals of fiscal and true federalism as the main fulcrum of the late Chief Obafemi Awolowo’s policy direction.
“As one of the disciples of the late Chief Obafemi Awolowo, Baba’s record of honesty, discipline, transparency as a teacher, lecturer and former commissioner stood him out as a man of integrity,” the Yoruba generalisimo stated.
“Yoruba is blessed to have him around at this critical time when those qualities have become relatively scarce commodities in our society.
“Those of us that are looking up to him are gaining alot from his wealth of experiences and knowledge and we are happy to celebrate baba’s life of service to humanity,” he added.
Adams, therefore, urged all the leaders to learn from the leadership qualities of Pa Fasonranti whose exemplary life remained a reference point in both public and private life, noting that the elder statesman was a pride of Yoruba race and deserved nothing less.
He prayed to God to continue to bless Pa Fasoranti with good health and sound mind so that he could continue to provide the wisdom needed at this time.
