Fight against insurgency: BASG donates land to NAF

NAFIN the demonstration of its determination to encourage fight against insurgency and other criminal activities in the North-East sub-region of the country by security and agencies, Bauchi state government has donated a vast piece of land to the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) for the establishment of a training range for officers and men of the Force.

The offer was made by the Bauchi State Governor, Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar at the commissioning of small arms shooting range and personnel accommodation by the Nigerian Air Force base in Bauchi on Saturday.

The Governor also used the occasion to commend the Air Force for its commitment to combating insurgency and other criminal activities bedevilling the country as well as its ongoing expansion of units and formations across the country.

A press statement signed by the Press Secretary to the Governor, Abubakar Al-Sadique, quoted the Governor saying that “the Bauchi State Government is planning to hand over a portion of land within the Lame Burra forest to the NAF for the purpose of establishing an air range to sharpen the fighting skills of operators of Nigerian Air Force fighter aircrafts”.

Mohammed Abubakar also acknowledged the commendable achievements of Nigerian Air Force in enhancing national security and commended President Muhammadu Buhari and the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshall Sadique Abubakar for the “corporate social responsibilities extended to the good people of Bauchi state by way of recent commissioning of Nigerian Air Force Referral Hospital as tertiary healthcare medical outreach”.

“NAF has demonstrated professionalism and discipline in the conduct of its operations. I, therefore, commend the sacrifices of Nigerian Air Force across the country in ensuring peace and security of our fatherland as part of its contributions to national development,” the Governor added.

In appreciation of the offer, the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshall Sadiqiue Abubakar assured that the Force will continue to fight all forms of insurgency and criminalities across the country just as it will not relent in its efforts at complementing the fight against Boko Haram in the North-East subregion.

The Chief of Air Staff then disclosed that the exercise was to put the Force in good shape and combat ready at all times.
