FOLLOWING the unabated cases of kidnapping in Kogi State, the Federal Government said it had concluded arrangements to deploy special military force in the state to end kidnapping and other related crimes.
The Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Tukur Buratai, who said this in Lokoja during an official visit to the state governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, noted that the Federal Government was worried over the increase in kidnapping and other crimes in the state.
He said he was in the state on a working visit to the military formations to see the challenges facing them and proffer solutions.
He, however, maintained that the issue of incessant kidnapping and other security problems in the state had become sources of concern to the Federal Government.
Buratai, however, lauded the state government for providing logistics and other necessary support to the security agencies in the state to help combat crimes.
“We are worried about the frequent kidnapping and robbery incidences in the state and we therefore felt that attention should be shifted to the state in order to curtail the raising wave of criminal activities so that it will not degenerate into a worst situation,” he stated.
Thanking the Chief of Army Staff for the visit, Governor Bello said due to mountainous nature of some parts of the state, it has become near impossible to root out the criminals from their hideouts.
