Construction works have commenced on the dualization of the 56.5km Ibadan-Ijebu Ode road with the clearing of the sideways.

The contractor, JRB Construction Company, has moved both the machines and other equipment to the Ibadan end of the road to facilitate the process.

The clearance of the roadside has covered close to 750m of the road.

One of the workers who preferred anonymity said similar works are going on at the Ijebu Ode end of the road.

He stated that owners of the affected buildings that have been marked for demolition have been served with a quit notice.

The project, which was flagged off in August 2026 by the Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, is valued at N297 billion.

The expected time for its completion is June 2029.
