About 23,159 candidates applied for first degree programmes through both Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) and Direct Entry (DE) into The Federal University, Dutse, JIgawa State.
The vice chancellor of the university, Professor Abdulkareem Sabo Muhammad, said this during the matriculation of new students in the institution on Thursday.
The vice chancellor said the institution was only able to give admission to 4,493 candidates, representing 19 percent of the applicants.
He explained that the 2021/2022 combined admission is particularly challenging because of the number of those who applied with only a limited quota to admit.
“The university received a total of 23,951 applications for admission into various programmes in the institution with only admission quota of 4,493 (19 percent) of the total applications received,’’ he said.
He, however, charged the new students to be good ambassadors of their respective families by obeying the rules and regulations of the university as well as face their academic activities properly.
