With almost daily incidences of accidents and its attendant casualties on the Oyo-Ogbomoso road, the Oyo House of Assembly, on Wednesday, tasked the federal and Oyo State road maintenance agencies to establish emergency rescue point on the road.
Deliberating on a motion on the need for the Federal Road Maintenance Agency (FERMA) to fix the Oyo-Ogbomoso road brought by Honourable Sanjo Adedoyin and Honourable Bimbo Oladeji, at plenary, the Assembly held that such emergency point will help reduce fatality from accidents that usually occurred on the road.
As a matter of urgency, the Assembly consequently urged the Oyo State government to liaise with the FERMA and Oyo State Road Traffic Maintenance Agency (OYRTMA) and Federal Road Safety Corps to fast-track modalities towards setting up the emergency rescue point.

They, however, bemoaned that the plea for FERMA and Oyo State Road Traffic Maintenance Agency (OYRTMA) was a sorry path that stemmed from the failure of the federal government to fix the road 20 years on.
While calling on the Federal Government to expedite rehabilitation works on the road, the Assembly particularly urged the FERMA to, in the meantime, urgently fill potholes and rehabilitate dangerous spots on the road.
Lawmakers in their various contributions also lamented the losses suffered by traders and farmers while plying the road.
Ruling in favour of the prayers of the motion, Speaker of Assembly, Honourable Adebo Ogundoyin charged the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) to improve upon its response time to accident scenes so as to fast-track rescue of victims.
